And human bodies are referred to as sleeves, in which these stacks get implanted. In this case, one can live forever if their cards are resleeved from time to time. But they can die too if their cards get destroyed with no backup available. A family named as Meths (one of the wealthiest of the time) has the means to live as long as they want. They keep a satellite backup and use clones for resleeving.
